Mood Board for a Crime Thriller

Production Logo research

On this video I'm only interested in the opening production logo, although the name is a little crude, the way that the logo comes in and the white colour of it on the black background, also scattering around like static on the textography and the way it moves.

Masks

We had a new idea to use masks in our new opening scene, we believed that to make something more creepy and thrilling there needs to be an element of mystery, so a mask would provoke the fact of mystey and make an opening more eye catching. We took the masks from the movice "V for Vendetta" and also the

group known as "Anonymous", the famous internet hackers, as these masks have such a high status in doing what is deemed as "bad" things, we believed that these would be ideal the what we have in mind.

What makes these masks even more ideal is the expression that they have on the mask, to me it seems like a sinister grin which makes the bad situation slightly contrupontal as the mask is smiling, the first time these masks were ever used was when Guy Fawkes wore it when he attempted to burn down Buckingham Palace, which gives these masks a political edge and meaning which is also very useful to our opening which we could relate to a drug trade of some sort, this is something that is also againsts the government just like Guy Fawkes was.

The new idea

After a long look at Cabin, we decided not to use it. We believe that it was just a simple generic opening involving things that have already been done many times before, not very creative aye? So we've decided to agree on a new theme, a crime thriller with a completely new opening, or in other terms, just giving ourselves more work than the regular load..

Cabin final cut

After we finished our moive opening "Cabin" we all realised how much it sucks (to put it plainly) it's a very simple idea and it's very generic of a person helplessly running through a forest and we all decided together that we didn't want it to be like that, so we decided to redraft and take a new idea. There are many reason as to why we didn't enjoy Cabin, such as the thrill is taken out as the girl gets caught, and it's hard to establish a storyline for the movie. We used contrapuntal music as she's running and then a creepy sountrack as she's caught, but as I said, the problem in the movie is the fact that she is actually caught. We also wanted to do something more creative with different rare camera angles and something we can all relate to and enjoy slightly more.
